Consular meeting
On the 25th April 2014 with the assistance of Wojciech Dziegiel, the First Secretary of the Embassy of Poland in Dublin, we organised a meeting for consular representatives from Eastern and Central Europe. Present were representatives of Dublin City Council, Department of Social Protection, Embassies of Czech Repuplic, Latvia, Slovakia, Hungary, Estonia and Poland; as well as homeless charities Crosscare and DePaul Ireland. We shared information regarding the extent of our work and signalled problems arising when working with homeless and vulnerable persons.
We asked the consuls to provide us with comprehensive information on services available for returning migrants with addiction issues; and also to put us in contact with migrant community organisations in Ireland that may be able to help us with translation and other ongoing work with destitute migrants.
Attendees were amenable to our request for speedy response in providing assistance to migrants in need.
